Banyule Community Health Aboriginal Health Team (BHATS) has a team of seven Aboriginal staff who deliver services and assist in running programs and groups locally both from the Community health service and at Barbunnin Beek gathering Place.

Alcohol and Other Drugs/Dual Diagnosis

Banyule Community Health provides counselling and care and recovery support for clients with alcohol and other drug and or/dual diagnosis issues. We undertake a comprehensive intake and assessment process combined with a daily Clinical Review process. All treatment plans are developed in collaboration with clients, consistent with a client-centred treatment approach. We can assist with case management support; referral to detox and rehabilitation facilities and counselling support (individual and/or group based therapy).

Cafe Alamein

Café Alamein is located onsite at BCH West Heidelberg and is open Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 3.15pm.

Why not grab a coffee, a 50c bottle of water or a bite to eat at Café Alamein, socialise with others and catch up with things online using our FREE wifi.

Wifi instructions and conditions of use are displayed onsite.

To reduce waste, we support staff and community members to bring their own "keep cup".

Café Alamein offers a BYO Coffee Cup Discount – simply bring along your own ‘Keep Cup’, get your card clipped and your 10th coffee is FREE!

The Banyule Community Health Carer Support Program provides support to carers who are experiencing difficulties related to their caring role. Carers are people who support a family member or friend who is frail or aged, disabled, has a chronic health condition or has a mental illness. Carer Support is provided by an experienced Social Worker.

Complex Care Managers - HEALTH INDEPENDENCE PROGRAM (HIP)

Banyule Community Health Complex Care Managers aim to help people access services they need to stay safe, independent and healthy as possible.  Care Managers support people to achieve this in close consultation with you, your family and your health professionals. The amount of involvement by the Care Manager is based on your needs and your ability to manage those needs.  The Care Manager will be involved for as long as it takes to improve your health management.

Eat Well Play Well

Eat Well Play Well is a series of nutrition talks for parents and carers of children 0-5yrs and is run by Banyule Community Health Paediatric Dietitian, with presentations by a physiotherapist and an Occupational Therapist on physical activity and active play.

The program aims to assist families in establishing healthy eating and encouraging active play in preschool children to prevent overweight and obesity.

The Banyule Community Health Generalist Counselling Program provides a range of services for individuals, couples, children and families affected by common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression, especially as a result of social disadvantage.
