Dental Services

Description of service:

A full range of dental services are provided to the community including:

Early Childhood Oral Health Program

  • Eligibility:
    • preschool children 0-5 years of age
  • Cost:
    • Free for Health Care / Pension Card holders
    • $30 per course of care for non card holders
  • Waiting time:
    • next available appointment (no waiting list)

School Dental Program

  • Eligibility:
    • all children twelve years and under
    • all children thirteen years and over who hold a concesion card or are dependants of concession card holders
  • Cost:
    • Free for Health Care / Pension Card holders
    • $30 per course of care for non card holders with a maximum of $120 per family
  • Waiting Time:
    • An initial consultation can be made promptly after making contact with the service. From this consultation a course of care will include a dental examination and all general treatment.
    • After the first course of care is completed you will be sent a letter of offer for further treatment in two years.
    • Children who are assessed as high risk will be seen every twelve months.
  • Emergency Appointment:
    • free for children who are dependants of concession card holders and non concession card holders
    • next available appointment (no waiting time)

Youth Dental Program

  • Eligibility:
    • Students in secondary school (years 9, 10, 11, 12)
    • Adolescents aged 14-18 who have left formal schooling
  • Cost:
    • Free for Health Care / Pension Card holders
  • Waiting Time:
    • Next available appointment (no waiting list)

Community Dental Program

  • Eligibility:
    • Health Care / Pension Card holders over 18 years
  • Cost:
    • $25 minimum to a maximum of $100 (excluding dentures)
    • Emergency course of care: $25
    • General course of care: $25 to $100
    • Specialist services (dentures and oral surgery) will incur a separate fee
  • Waiting time:
    • Patients must place their name on the waiting list for general care and dentures. Emergency appointments are made based on the emergency triage.

Undergraduate Teaching Program

Melbourne University School of Dental Science. Students provide dental treatment under the supervision of a qualified dentist.

  • Eligibility: Health Care / Pension Card holders
  • Cost: Free for Health Care / Pension card holders
  • Waiting time: Next available appointment (no waiting list)

Private Dental Program

  • Eligibility: non Health Care / Pension card holders
  • Hours of operation: 4:30pm - 6:00pm
